What is proofreading?
Proofreading literally means ‘test reading’. Written (or translated) texts are checked for grammar, spelling and style. Because every language has a unique set of rules and principles, it is of great importance that these be consistently applied in written or translated texts. Only then, a high-quality text can be guaranteed. Proofreading is frequently applied to document translations, website translations and webshop translations.
Texts with the right grammar
In order to deliver error-free texts, we use a comprehensive list of rules and criteria for the language in question. This ensures that the right grammar is used for the texts. When reviewing texts, we attend to the following:
- Spelling
- Sentence structure
- Person
- Punctuation (full stops, commas, etc.)
- Consistency (style, form of address, terminology)
- Careless errors (double spaces, etc.)
When proofreading texts, we ensure that the quality is preserved. This means that we keep the point of your message in mind. Depending on your preferences, extra guidelines can be set up for the proofreading accordingly.
Native speakers for optimal proofreading
Within Simply Translate, we work with a select group of specialised proofreaders. Because proofreading is a unique field, our proofreaders are always native speakers. This means that texts will only be checked by people who have perfectly mastered their mother tongue. Due to the language expertise that our proofreaders have, texts are optimally corrected according to the rules of a local language.
Simply Translate helps with the details
We provide proofreading as a separate or additional service. This means that you can have your text checked either separately or as a supplement to a translation. Because we have proofreaders with different nationalities, we are able to check texts in more than thirty languages. Examples include: Dutch, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish, Chinese, Norwegian, Finnish, Swedish, Russian, Polish, Romanian, Lithuanian, Croatian, Slovakian, Bulgarian, Czech, Arabic, etc. We are happy to provide you with texts that are correct to the smallest detail.
